Bantwal: Four-year-old drowns in farm pond

Bantwal, Jan 11: In a shocking incident reported from Serkala in Kolnadu village near Vittal in the taluk, a small girl breathed her last after falling into a pond located inside the family farm on Sunday January 10. The victim has been identified as Sarfunnisa (4), daughter of Hamza A from Serkala, Kolnadu village.

Sarfunnisa, accompanied by Hamza, a resident of Barebetut in Kolnadu village, had visited the farm belonging to Abbas Bakimaru along with her friends, Rashid and Badruddin. When the three were playing, Sarfunnisa accidentally slipped and fell into the pond at the centre of the farm. Rashid and Badruddin ran home and alerted the family members about the incident.

When the family members rushed to the pond, they saw that the girl had drowned. She was brought out of water and rushed in an ambulance to Vittal community health centre. The medical officer however found that the girl was no more.

A report filed at Vittal police station in this respect stated that the girl slipped and drowned in the pond when playing with other children on the farm.
