Bengaluru: Youth Congress president election - 59,418 votes on first day

Bengaluru, Jan 11: After Mithun Rai withdrew from the state youth Congress president election, the main contenders remaining in the fray are Manjunath, Nalapad and Raksha Ramaiah .

On the first day of polling on Sunday, January 10, 59,418 votes were polled. For the first time, online polling is being held for this election. The size of the electorate is 4.2 lac. The polling will continue on Monday and Tuesday.

National Students Union of India (NSUI) president, H S Manjunath, former minister, M R Seetaram's son, Raksha Ramaiah, as well as MLA, N A Haris' son, Mohammed Nalapad, are projected as the main contenders. Sandeep Nayak, Bhavya who is the lone female contender, and Khalid too are in the fray.

It is felt that the withdrawal from the race by Mithun Rai will prove beneficial to Manjunath and Raksha Ramaiah.
