Puttur: Beautiful view as sheet of water flows down vented dam

Daijiworld Media Network - Puttur (SP)

Puttur, Jan 11: After the vented dam built across Gowri river at Chennavara in Peuvaje village filled to the bim, excess water is flowing out in abundance in the form of sheet of water. This dam also helps in improving underground water table apart from feeding agricultural land for several kilometres.

With the increase in water level here last time, water level in ponds and wells had gone up. Planks were fitted for the dam two weeks back. This dam is located near the Chennavara Kundadka bridge.

The vented dam last year had water storage till May end. As planks were fitted by December end this time, this year too, the water level is expected to be maintained till May.

The dam provides an exhilarating view now as water flows down from above the planks fitted on the dam. Water also gushes down from above the protective wall. As a measure of safety, public visit to the slot has been barred. This dam had been built two years back at a cost of Rs 35 lac as per the recommendation of MLA Angara.
