Mangaluru, Jan 13: Former minister Ramanath Rai objected UPCL’s overhead transmission line installed from Bantwal taluk to Kerala’s Kasargod.

Addressing media here on Wednesday January 13, he said, “The overhead transmission line from Nandikoor to Kasargod, is passing through Padubidri-Moodbidri-Bantwal-Kasargod. People in Bantwal taluk have no information about the transmission line. I had to bring it to the notice of the government about the problems faced by the people of Bantwal taluk due to the transmission line.

“Instead of overhead transmission line, it is better to install underground power cable. That will not trouble people. The overhead transmission line of 60 meters will trouble farmers as it passes through their agricultural land in Bantwal. Already, L&T have put their units at Taccode with the material for the same. People of Bantwal taluk are in fear with this overhead transmission line,” he said.
