Karnataka Govt Slaps 57-day Fishing Ban in 3 Coastal Districts


Mangalore, June 15 (PTI): The Karnataka Government today imposed a 57-day fishing ban in three coastal districts which are facing inclement weather and rough seas. 

 The ban, to come into effect from tomorrow, would be in force in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts till August 10. Minister for Ports and Fisheries Krishna J Palemar who reviewed preparations in the wake of floods, told reporters that officials have been directed to keep at least 50 lifeboats ready for deployment.

He also visited Ullala, Mukkacheri and Mogavera Patna areas which has witnessed sea erosion and said the government has prepared a Rs 223 crore plan to check it.
