Mangalore: Tannirbhavi Ropeway to be Constructed Soon

Mangalore, Jun 15: Minister for Ports, Environment and Inland Water Transport J. Krishna Palemar said here on Monday that Rs. 40 lakh had been allocated for the construction of a ropeway connecting Tannirbhavi and Sultan Batheri, which would begin after the monsoon.

He was speaking after launching a ferry service at Bengre introduced by the Bengre Mahajan Sabha, an association of residents of the area.

The Minister said that funds had been set aside in the budget for ports for repairs and construction of jetties.

Overall, Rs. 57 crore had been allocated for the Mangalore port, and Rs. 53 lakh for the Malpe port in Udupi district, the Minister said.

The Minister said that he would look into the problems faced by the residents of Bengre in obtaining RTCs for their houses, and address their drinking water problems.
