Karkala: Bus hits motorbike - teacher killed

Karkala, Jan 18: Vasanth Devadiga (45), a resident of Nitte and teacher by profession, was killed after the motorbike he was riding was hit by a private bus near Nitte village on Saturday January 16.

The teacher had received a call on his cellphone when he was approaching the Forever hotel at Nitte. He stopped his vehicle by the roadside and was talking on his mobile phone when a private bus moving towards Padubidri from Karkala swerved to the extreme left of the road and hit the two-wheeler rider. Vasanth Devadiga suffered serious injuries. He was rushed to Karkala govenrment hospital immediately and then to Manipal for advanced treatment. He breathed his last there.

A case relating to the incident was filed in Karkala rural police station.
