Nityananda in Trouble for using Kerosene for 'penance'

Bangalore, Jun 17 (PTI): Self-styled godman Nityananda has courted fresh trouble for allegedly using kerosene meant for poor families during his meditation for 'penance' and may face a seven-year jail term if convicted.

Nityananda, out on bail on June 12 after remaining in jail for 53 days on rape and other criminal charges, resorted to the 'pancha tapasya' by meditating in his Bidadi ashram in neighbouring Ramanagara district. While meditating, Nityananda sat and prayed with a fire set around him.

Officials of Food and Civil Supplies department on Wednesday seized 180 litres of blue kerosene stored at the ashram. "This is an offence under the Essential Commodities Act," Commissioner H R Srinivasa told reporters here.

Blue kerosene available under public distribution system is only meant for BPL ration card holders and above poverty line ones without LPG connection, he said."Cases have now been booked against him at Bidadi police station under section six and seven of the Essential Commodities Act," Srinivasa said. If convicted, Nityananda faces a maximum punishment of seven years of rigorous imprisonment with penalty.

Meanwhile, Nityananda's ashram sought to distance itself from the episode of usage of blue kerosene."There have been some remarks in media about the use of kerosene oil during the Pancha Tapas Yoga and unfortunately, some people are using this as a reason to harass the ashramites and stop the ashram's spiritual activities," it said in a statement.
A source in the Nityananda's ashram Dhyanapeetham, however, said they have decided to use camphor during the meditation from Thursday and not kerosene.

The seizure came in the wake of photographs showing disciples pouring blue kerosene for a ring of fire within which Nityananda sat in meditation.

Nityananda was arrested in Himachal Pradesh on April 21 after eluding police who were on the lookout following a private TV channel in Chennai telecasting a purported video footage of the godman in a compromising position with a Tamil actress in March.

Frankly speaking there is no case against Swami Nityanandaa. He might have had consensula sex. It is not that big offence to prosecute him. Now issue of kerosene, it is blown out of proportion. If he had 5 to 10 thousand liters, then matters would have been different. Secondly he might have got this kerosene through political influence. What about those politicians and bureaucrats who end up amassing public wealth and miusing the public distribution system. What happened to those politicians who have amassed wealth in the name of flood relief. If at all any one need to be framed and punished it must be politicians and corrupt bureaucrats. Disgusting to see people making mountain out of mole. Hati jaye magar uske poonch per aankh kyon?

I don’t think any of the (caught or non caught) culprit must be beginning their way with a plan of making big. It is “the people” give them opportunities to grow by showing our weakness and also giving a hint how best they can exploit our weakness and make money. I don’t know how Nityananda Swami started his ‘career’ (if if may call it so) but I presume he must have started it very small. May be is a talented talker. Because of the opportunities he go got he utilized them and grew very fast.

So why blame him. There must many such guys who are more smarter than him and not got caught but running the similar setups. If you thinks its wrong stop the people going after them, educate them.

Because…. Naturally if there is no food and water available the animals from that area will migrate to different place. They wont stick around.

This is a classic example of "penny wise & pound foolish". Some people really don't have any job. We are talking about financial irregularities in crores, rapes, human rights abuses, deceipt and so on. Its a real joke to talk about kerosene !

I am sure it is Mutta lik who provided him with Kerosene. However, Mutta lik will argue that it was supplied by Christian Missionaries....we should understand the insane person.

Whether Nityananda uses Kerosene or Petrol, it doesn't bother his DIE HARD DEVOTEES. I was shocked to know that even after watching his sex CD'S & other 420 works, there are people who support him blindly. Shocking news is that they are not uneducated, but professionals like doctors and engineers. He and his followers will spoil society unless Govt takes severe action.Did he do anything good for society atleast ? School,Hospitals,Free Meals etc.etc ? He is having his free meal ,thats all. Like him another dangerous KALKI SWAMI is existing. His Ahram was ransacked by Andhra people after coming to know that he is giving Drugs Mixed Prasadam ! He has millions of rupees in his bank account.

So, beware of Swamijis who teach YOGA and black mail you and society slowly. Yoga is their main weapon. Unfortunately,Yoga which was taught by our MAHARSHIS ,being misused by Dongi Swamis.
