Belagavi, Jan 25: A couple whose marriage was solemnised three days back, and police sub-inspector of Belagavi women's police station were among the four persons from a single family who lost their lives in a ghastly accident which occurred between a government bus and a car.

The accident happened on Sunday January 24 afternoon at Chachadri Cross near Yaragatti on the state highway.

Laxmi Hanumantha Rao Nalawade, wife of Vasudeva Pawar from Sahyadri Nagar in the city, her son Prasad Vasudev Pawar, daughter-in-law Ankita Prasad Pawar, and sister Deepa Anil Shahapurkar, were those lost their lives in the accident. Laxmi was a sub-inspector of the women's police station in the city.

The family had gone on a pilgrimage to Saundatti Yellamma temple. The car in which they were returning to the city, and a bus bound for Ilkal from Vasco, collided. The impact of the accident was so hard that almost half portion of the car had got stuck in the front of the bus. Muragod police used cranes to separate the vehicles and bring out the bodies.

Prasad and Ankita had married on January 21.
