Bengaluru, Jan 26: The Kannada Development Authority (KDA) launched a state-wide campaign for the compulsory display of Kannada signboards in front of all shops and business establishments for three days from Tuesday.

KDA Chairman T S Nagabharana, who launched the campaign from Commercial Street in Bengaluru on Tuesday till January 28 all over the state, said all the shop-keepers and owners of business establishments must voluntarily start displaying Kannada signboards.

"We are not going to tolerate if the Kannada signboards are displayed," he warned and said the signboards must be clearly visible and in big letters.

"We will not tolerate if any of the shops and business establishments display small signboards or use small letters beneath other languages in front of their premises. There is no compromise that Kannada should get primacy in Karnataka,’’ he said.

Nagabharana said all offices of the state government and central government must compulsorily use the Kannada language.

The KDA leaders and activists will present appeals to press for their demands on the compulsory display of signboards in Kannada in keeping with the 'Kannada Kayaka Year' announced by chief minister B S Yediyurappa on the day of Rajyothsava on November 1, 2020.
