Mangaluru: 'Union budget tabled for 2021 is pro-people': Kota

Mangaluru, Feb 13: District in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary on Saturday, February 13 termed the union budget tabled for the year 2021-2022 as a pro-people budget.

Addressing a press meet at the district BJP office, Kota said, "This is a historical budget. The budget emphasised increasing the agricultural produce, providing better infrastructure, development in the health sector. Moreover, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) projected that India will reclaim the status of the world's fastest-growing economy."

"The government will give more priority to basic infrastructure and will be spending Rs 1 lac crore to provide basic infrastructure of agriculture. It will also spend Rs 100 lac crore in five years for the development of basic facilities. In the future, India will be the world's health hub," he said.

"In the budget for the year 2021, the government allotted Rs 34,83,236 crore rupees for the development of various sectors. This will be useful in the comprehensive development of India. The budget is also a pro-farmer. The government has the target of providing a Rs 16.5 lac crore loan to the farmers. The government has provided additional facilities for animal husbandry and fisheries. In the budget government has given importance to the health sector, providing clean drinking water, development of national highways, development of Indian railways, development in the power sector, importance to Indian made product under the Athmanirbhar Bharat, housing to everyone," Kota said.

Replying to the query on Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments department sending circular to privately-managed temples for registering, Kota said, "The state government has no intention of taking over the administration of privately-managed temples. As it was mentioned under clause 53 of the Endowments Act, 2011. The government in 2015 had ordered for mandatory registering of privately-managed temples. Thus, every year a circular is sent to such temples. I have given instructions to withdraw this circular and stop sending such circulars to temples in future,” he said.

On Sapthapadi, a mass marriage programme, he said that the department will fix four to five muhurats every month and conduct the marriages. The mass marriage will be held throughout the year.
