Udupi: Man poses as police commissioner, arrested along with companions

Udupi, Feb 17: A person who threatened the people by claiming himself to be a police commissioner, was taken into custody by the Malpe police on Tuesday February 16. People who were found to be accompanying this man were also taken into custody.

A person identified as K Ramanath from Thenkanidiyoor was driving a bus near Malpe circle on Monday night when he found that a car bearing registration No. HR38 S0320 that had been stopped on the car was obstructing his path. He honked to alert the driver of that car to move aside. Later, when he was taking the bus to Vadanbhandeshwara, the same car overtook his bus and blocked his path.

The car had three occupants, out of which one claiming himself to be a police commissioner, shouted at the driver in full public glare. The front portion of his private car had a board with 'police' written on it. The Malpe police came there and checked the documents. They found that the person was not a government servant and took all the three away.

A complaint for threatening the people by claiming himself to be the plolice commissioner with the intent to deceive the people was registered in Malpe police station.
