Kundapur: Rukmini elected president of Maravanthe gram panchayat

Kundapur, Feb 18: Rukmini, a candidate from the reserved backward tribe woman category was elected for the first time unopposed as the president of Maravanthe gram panchayat. Lokesh Kharvi was elected vice-president unopposed.

Rukmini was also elected member unopposed. There are 14 seats here. BJP had won 11 seats and Congress had won two seats. Rukmini who has become the president was supported by JDS.

The elections for the posts of president and vice-president were conducted by Byndoor block education officer G M Mundinamani. Former president Anita R K, former president M Vinayaka Rao, S Janardhan, Taluk Kogara association president Ganesh, Karunaker Shetty and others were present.
