Mangaluru: Arehole Foundation inaugurates drama festival

Mangaluru, Feb 20: “Mediums such as dramas provide entertainment and help individuals to be lively between life’s tussles and pressures. They help individuals to be filled with enthusiasm and to fight against problems in life,” said well-known auditor of Mangaluru. S S Nayak inaugurated the sixth state-level bilingual drama festival held by Arehole Prathistana and Nandagokula under the sponsorship of the department of Kannada and Culture at Padua theatre hub.

The five-day festival which will witness the participation of five drama teams will conclude on February 22.

Bengaluru’s drama artist, Gururaj Hosakote during the inauguration programme was presented the Arehole Rangabhoomi award for his services in theatre.

Harikrishna Punaroor who presided over the programme said that Tulu and Kannada languages are like mothers for us and it is our responsibility to nurture them.

Advisor K C Prabhu from the Kannada culture department, assistant director Rajesh G Suvarna, Nandagokula artiste Chaitra Kotian and others were present. Nandagokula director Shwetha Arehole compered the programme. Arehole Sadashiva Rao welcomed the gathering. Christopher Neenasam rendered a vote of thanks.
