Kundapur, Feb 20: Vijay Putran is elected president and Nausheen Hazrath is elected vice-president of Kavradi gram panchayat, here. The gram panchayat has a total strength of 16 members. Seven members were from BJP, five from Congress and four were from STPI. The elections were held on February 20.

Vijay Putran had filed nomination as Congress and STPI supported candidate and Prakaschandra Shetty had filed nomination from BJP for the post of president. Both of them received eight votes each. The winner was declared by lot. Vijay Putran was elected president.



Shamala Devadiga from BJP and Nausheen Hazrath from Congress and STPI had filed nominations for the post of vice-president. Nausheen Hazrath received nine votes. Shamala Devadiga received seven votes.

Shankernarayana forest department RFO Chidananda was the election officer.
