Bantwal: 21st Kannada Sahitya Sammelana held

Bantwal, Feb 21: "Though there were lots of literature posted on social media during Covid pandemic, there is need for intellectuals to retrospect on the same," said writer Dr Suresha Negalaguli, president of 21st Bantwal taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana.

Dr Suresha presided over the function that took place at the campus of Kannada Bhavana of Kaikunje, B C Road on Sunday, February 21. He further said, "When Covid pandemic began social media was the only forum for literature. During that time, literature attracted many learned people. It also led to the invention of new style of literature. However, it is regrettable that those who do not have knowledge in certain situations are doing the valuation of literature."

"Doctorate that is earned by paying money is not enough. Let Kannada literature shine in the lessons at school. Let Kannada Bhavana be built in every taluk. When it comes to language, Kerala is model to Karnataka. More work needs to be done for the growth of Kannada," said Dr Negalaguli.

The programme was inaugurated by taluk tahsildar Rashmi S R. Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik wished the programme all the best. District president of Kannada Sahitya Parishad Pradeepa Kumara Kalkura gave the keynote address. Nivedana, souvenir was released by former president of Tulu Sahitya Parishad A C Bhandary.

President of Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi authority Dr Girish Bhat Ajakkala, taluk panchayat vice president Abbas Ali, honorary secretary Dr Nagaveni Manchi and Ravindra Kukkaje were on the dais.

President of Bantwal taluk Kannada Sahitya parishad K Mohan Rao welcomed the gathering. Immediate past president Jayananda Peraje introduced the president of Sammelana to the audience.

Teachers of Best English medium school sang Nadageether and Raithageethe. The programme was compered by Kodaje Balakrishna Alva and teacher Mahesh V Karkera. Geetha Konkodi and Ravi Kumar compered the event. Pallavi Karantha rendered the vote of thanks.
