Puttur, Jul 2: After a private bus carrying pilgrims tumbled down at Kapinabagilu in Kokkada near Uppinangady on Thursday July 1, 11 people suffered injuries.

The private bus was carrying pilgrims from Hoskote, to various pilgrimage centres in the coastal districts. The pilgrims were on their way to Hoskote after visiting Dharmasthala when their bus met with the accident. Reportedly, the driver swerved the bus aside to avoid colliding with an oncoming car, when the bus hit a roadside electric pole and tumbled down. The electric pole snapped, and the cables dangled on the fallen bus. However, as the power supply got snapped instantly, a tragedy was averted.

About 30 pilgrims suffered minor injuries. The injuries of four of them, Bette Gowda, Bhyrappa, Venkatesh and Ratnamma, are stated to be of serious nature. They have been admitted into different hospitals.

Uppinangady policemen have registered a case.
