Speaking to the students, Shri Anathakrishna, Chairman of Karnataka bank and the chief guest of the programme inspired the students to build on their strengths and work on their weakness by saying “we should admire ants for the will power they possess and the discipline they follow while working. Every work done by the ants is planned; planning is the crucial thing for any kind of work.”

Dr. Saji Gopinath, Director of TAPMI, said, “Your journey begins today. Out of the 120 thousand MBA graduates only 13%, today are employable. And you are the privileged ones to get into TAPMI where the placements are 100%.” “Private enterprises are playing a major role in the global economy and TAPMI will generate managers who are confident and possess analytical skills in them” Shri Anathakrishna added.

Dr. Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor of Manipal University, introduced the students to Manipal University and briefed them on the facilities which they can avail of.  Ruminating over the past of Manipal, Dr. H.Shantaram, Trustee and Governing Council Member of TAPMI recollected the plans of the visionaries like Dr. T.M.A Pai and Shri T.A.Pai who gave a head start to the University town of Manipal.

Not contrasting the past years, the students with engineering background outnumbered the students coming from other streams like arts, commerce and science accounting to 87% of the total 120 students. It was an assortment of students hailing from various parts of India with 79% of the students having work experience, the maximum being 45 months.

“The first thing I was looking for, as soon as the results of CAT were out is for the best B-school in the country for pursuing MBA and that has the best faculty, so here I am in TAPMI. I’ve made my choice.” says Aditya Prakash, a new student who has worked in Hewlett and Packard for 32 months.

“The security of the place plays a major while you leave your children in a college that is away from home. It was very important me to look out for a college that is reputed and also at the same time secure”, says a parent of Bhargavi, another student who has come all the way from Hyderabad.

“In addition to the existing batch of 120 students, the AICTE has approved increasing the number of seats to 180 this year. The approval adds to the credibility of the institute and is another feather in the cap of accomplishment of TAPMI”, says Prof. Chowdari Prasad who teaches Finance.
