Bantwal, Feb 24: In an interesting case, it is alleged that a person was assaulted and allegation of theft was hoisted against him because of his unwillingness to vacate his rented house. Relating to this case, a complaint of theft from the mosque was registered in the town police station here, naming the above complainant as the accused.

Allegedly, Mohammed Hasif has been residing in a house at Talipadpu, B Mooda village for the last two years. He had not vacated the house even after the house owners returned, alleging that his deposit amount was not refunded. Asif says that angry at his refusal to vacate the house, Hasainar and others had accused him of stealing a cauldron and other items from a mosque and beat him up with pieces of wood at 10.30 pm on February 22.

In this connection, president of Taliopadpu Hidayyatul Islam Madrassa Committee, Syed Palul has comlplained to the police, accusing Mohammed Asif of stealing an old copper cauldron worth about Rs 40,000 and five bundles of cables from the mosque.
