Kundapur, Feb 26: The Jan Dhwani rally by foot from Hejmady to Byndoor by the Udupi district Congress committee against the 'anti-people policies' of the union government reached Kundapur on Thursday, February 25.

The rally that started from Brahmavar on Thursday afternoon reached Kundapur via Saligrama, Kota and Thekkatte. District Congress president addressing the rally near Shastri circle explained the aim of the protests. Vidhan Parishad member K Pratapchandra Shetty was present.

Former minister, Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the government at the centre is approving anti-farmer policies and ignoring the demands of farmers. “Congress government had provided land during its term to the poor by Akrama Sakrama. But the current government is preparing to file cases against those who are owning government land. The prices of petrol and diesel are skyrocketing. The gas subsidy has been removed. The prices of essential commodities have become exorbitant. Government organizations are being privatized. The government is hiking prices during the pandemic. The government is operating without adopting anti-people policies,” he said.

Congress leader Sudhir Kumar Maravalli addressed the rally. Block Congress president H Hariprasad Shetty, former president, Malyadi Shivarama Shetty, Shankar Kunder, M A Gafoor, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Harish Kini Udyavar, Vikas Hegde, Ichithartha Shetty, Roshni Olivera, Veronica Carvalho, Devananda Shetty, B Herianna, Janaki Billava, Jagadish Devadiga, Roshan Shetty, Devaki Sannayya, Chandrashekar Kharvi and others were present. A book titled ‘Raitara Bhadrathe – Deshada Bhadrathe was released on the occasion.
