Bengaluru: Shivakumar says Sampath Raj not involved in DJ Halli disturbances

Bengaluru, Feb 26: Even though Pulikeshi Nagar MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, has been reiterating that former city mayor and Congress leader Sampath Raj, had engineered the DJ Halli riots, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president, D K Shivakumar has come in support of Sampath Raj and said that the former mayor had not taken part in the riots that day.

When his attention was drawn towards Akhanda's repeated allegations against Sampath Raj, he said that the BJP had included Sampath's name in the investigation just to sully the image of the Congress. "I have gone through all the investigation reports. None have any evidence to prove that Sampath was involved with the disturbances," he asserted.

When he was told that his own party legislator, Akhanda Srinivas Murthy, has been accusing Sampath, he said that these things are linked with local politics, personal issues and minor problems, He said all these issues will be sorted out by the party.
