Bantwal: GP Member Arrested for Illegal Transportation of Sand

Bantwal, Jul 4: Umesh Achary, a Gram Panchayat member has been arrested for his involvement in illegal transportation of sand to Kerala.

Umesh is a member of Kariyangala gram panchayat, here. He was arrested by the police following a complaint filed by the Bantwal Tahsildar. He has been remanded to judicial custody till July 13.

The Bantwal Tahsildar seized sand illegally stored by Acharya to transport it to Kerala on June 21. Two loads of sand were already transported in lorries owned by Achary on June 2, stated a press release from the deputy commissioner’s office.
