Udupi: Winning Congress backed candidates felicitated

Udupi, Mar 8: A programme to felicitate Congress candidates who secured victory in the recent Alevoor gram panchayat election was held at Alevoor Vittal auditorium on Sunday, March 7. Former MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake congratulated the successful candidates. "People trust the party when we work for the public and voters begin to believe that a particular person or a leader is efficient," Sorake said.

“We were faced with a situation of losing our hold in some panchayats despite having a majority. But the party candidates were not perturbed and worked as a unit towards to clinch the victory,” he said.

New panchayat president, Pushpa Anchan, vice president, Sudhakar Poojary, women's wing president Geeta Vagle, Alevoor Harish Kini, Pravin Kumar Shetty, Kishan Hegde Kolkebail, Anand Korangrapady and others were present.

Sathish Poojary and Ashok Serigar compered the programme. Amrath Umesh Kotian rendered the vote of thanks. Sportspersons Sinchana Acharya, Sumana Poojary and Prashul P Poojary were felicitated. Alevoor Rajesh Shetty who is elected president of district Patrakartara Sangha was honoured.
