Bantwal, Mar 9: District panchayat chief executive officer Dr Kumar who expressed dissatisfaction over the work of development officers has warned of action against the PDOs if reservation of land for disposal of solid waste is not finalized within a month. He spoke confronting officials of various departments and gram panchayat officials in the progress review meeting at Bantwal taluk panchayat auditorium on Tuesday.

“The plans for waste disposal units are not implemented due to lack of will power of gram panchayat PDOs. Do not take into consideration the objections. If a site is not found in one gram panchayat, prepare a cluster, agreement and DPR with another gram panchayat,” he said. “Taluk panchayat EO Rajanna also should work towards implementation of solid waste management. Tahsildar, EO and ADLR should hold joint meetings and clear the confusion over the sites,” he said.

List of beneficiaries soon

“PDOs should prepare lists of beneficiaries who will be getting drinking water through pipes in houses under Jalajeevan mission (JJM) in 30 gram panchayats in Bantwal and submit them to panchayat raj engineering division AEE Taranath Salian soon. As there are only 100 beneficiaries in most of the gram panchayats, it will not be difficult to prepare the lists. The applications should be filled in the appropriate format,” he said.

The CEO obtained information about the JJM project in the taluk from Taranath. “There is provision in the project for water connections separately for Anganwadi and schools. Therefore, block education officer Jnanesh, CDPOs Gayatri Kambali and Sudha Joshi should provide the lists,” he said. Gram panchayats should pay the part payment of beneficiaries in advance under JJM. “If the beneficiaries do not pay it, pay it from the gram panchayat funds or collect from donors,” he said.

Progress on SSLC examinations

He obtained from CEO and BEO details of the last SSLC examinations results in Bantwal. “We will be visiting schools which received B and C grades last time. We have completed training for subject wise teachers. Such schools are adopted,” said BEO Jnanesh.

“The list of those who do not have house sites is long. Action should be taken to distribute sites to them selecting the beneficiaries on priority,” he said.

Bantwal tahsildar Rashmi S R, district panchayat DPADU Basavaraj were present. EO Rajanna welcomed and thanked.
