Udupi, Mar 11: Jamaat-e-Islami Hind held a seminar at Hotel Durga International, here, on March 7 on how strong families build a strong nation.

Advocate and notary Atradi Prathviraj Hegde said that everybody should revert to religious values as married lives fail widely at present.

Udupi Catholic diocese public relations officer, Fr Chetan Lobo commended Jamaat-e-Islami for having begun a campaign in the country for a secure society when people are fighting for various reasons. “All religions believe that only the almighty chooses their life partners. It is necessary to think why marital relationships have begun to burn when they are based on a sacred foundation. The four reasons for it are man-made caste, culture, society and law,” he said.

Another guest, Udupi ladies police sub-inspector Violet Femina said that we should teach our children family values and culture when we take the initiative for their higher education. “If that happens, we will not have to see tragic circumstances of parents who raised their children feeding them on mother’s breast milk land in the old age homes,” he said.

Another guest, a well-known psychiatrist, Dr P V Bhandary advised parents not to leave behind properties. “But treat your children as your assets as told by Shivarama Karanth. We should observe the mental sensitivity of children. The home environment is important. Love is necessary not advice. Practice what you preach to them,” he said.

Udupi Civil judge and authority of district civil services, Kaveri said that violence in the families and divorces have gone up by 100% during the Covid crisis. “Unity and community living can be seen in all creatures. The culture that we obtained as humans should be transferred to the next generation. We should realize our responsibilities. Only desire is not sufficient. We should work hard and give priority to discipline. Ideal families are possible by love, compassion, trust, understanding and patience. The situation can be controlled if we support each other without blaming. We should realize that the child is the future of the family,” she said.

Jamaat-e-Islami Karnataka unit secretary, Mohammed Kunhi in his presidential address reiterating the words of former president A P J Abdul Kalam said, "Your personality and behaviour will be beautiful if your mind is rich. The home will be a centre of peace if there is harmony in it. Liberalism has given up all the morality and has become the victim of self-indulgence.

“Hitler who was disciplined and polite in getting up early in the morning became a victim of cruelty after he lost his mother. He would have become an inventive person if he had a good environment at home. Home should be the centre of peace. The Holy Quran explains about the family bond.”

Nisar Ahmed compered the programme and rendered the vote of thanks.

Nice program organized. Many people complain about the falling family values and bonds, yet no one talks and initiate to fix it. This program by JIH and other resource person was indeed very useful and this should be done in regular Parents Teachers Meet in many schools and colleges.
