Kolar: Accused who severed hand of sub-inspector surrenders

Kolar, Mar 12: Appen (32), who has been accused of severing the hand of the sub-inspector of Mahadevapura police station Bengaluru, surrendered before Ilakkiya Karunakaran, superintendent of police of KGF.

Appen, accused of involvement with several cases of thefts, had attacked police sub-inspector of Mahadevapura station, Harinath Babu, when the policeman went to the former's home at midnight to arrest him. Harinathj's right hand was cut off while the left hand also was injured.

KGF police had formed four teams for the arrest of the accused. They were searching for him at Chennai, Bengaluru and several parts of Tamil Nadu. The accused, in the meanwhile directly approached the superintendent of police and surrendered.
