Bengaluru, Apr 14: CCTV footage from the electronics city in the outskirts of the city revealed that an 18-month-old child lost its balance and fell into a sump tank. No one noticed it for long. A person who came that way after sometime is found rescuing the child.
The child in question belongs to Sathish and Krishnamma couple, who are of Andhra Pradesh origin. The above incident happened at 8 am on April 3. The parents, who were on a visit to relatives, were fully involved with their conversation with them. They had forgotten to take care of their baby which went out of the house, reached near the sump tank inadvertently. The owner of the house, noticing that the sump was empty, had opened the lid of the sump tank to fill it with water. The child, unaware of the danger in store, went near the sump tank and fell into the tank after losing balance. Later, a man is seen rescuing the child. The owner of the house said that he was filling the sump tank with water from the tractor tank. He went home to have quick snacks by the time the tanker turned empty. "A short while later, I heard the sound of a motorbike. As I was worried that the biker would drive over the water hose, I came out of the house but by then the biker had returned. I went to the sump to check the level of water and found to my dismay that a child that had drowned, was struggling for its life. I immediately went down the sump tank and rescued the child. The sump had about ten feet of water and the child had consumed a significant amount of water. After the child was made to vomit the water it had gulped, it returned to good health," he explained.
The child apparently was destined to live longer. Even after staying underwater for 70 seconds, the child stayed alive and had a miraculous escape. Therefore the parents need to be careful about their children because sometimes even minor incidents result in major mishaps.
