Mumbai: Six people arrested for selling Remdesivir in black

Mumbai, Apr 27: Six people have been arrested in two instances for allegedly selling Remdesivir, an important injection used to treat Covid-19, in black.

In the first instance, five people including a woman were caught and 26 vials of Remdesivir seized from them in Goregaon on Saturday, April 24. Reportedly, the crime branch had received a tip-off that Remdesivir was being sold for Rs 18,000 in black. It was being sold to anyone without a doctor's prescription, an official said.

In another case, a lab technician from Navi Mumbai, Rahul Kanade was arrested from a hotel in Khandeshwar with three vials illegally procured from a nurse at a Covid care hospital, senior inspector Giridhar Gore saiad. The 38 year old claimed that he does not know where the nurse works. Kanade said that the nurse used to show the vials in hospital records as being used for patients who had died.
