Bengaluru, May 11: The talk of leadership change in the state may be going on within the BJP circles but the top leaders, it is learnt, are not in no mood to take a risk as far as Karnataka is concerned, in view of the fact that the leaders are too busy with Covid management and other serious issues.

BJP state president, Nalin Kumar Kateel and home minister, Basavaraj Bommai, clarified that their current priority is Covid management and no discussions about leadership change took place during the meeting with Amit Shah. Kateel, who held video interaction with district in charge ministers on Monday, confirmed that there is no change in the leadership now.

State home minister, Basavaraj Bommai, and state BJP vice president, B Y Vijayendra, had undertaken a trip to Delhi. Their visit has fuelled the speculation that Yediyurappa’s days as the chief minister may be numbered. But it is learnt that the meeting was limited to discussions about covid19 situation in the state. No other issues including leadership change were discussed as the top leaders were busy with Assam assembly leadership issue.

BJP high command aims at consolidating its position in south India in the next Lok Sabha election. Karnataka being a state where BJP has strong roots, the leaders are not willing to take risks. Next year, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh will go to polls. So the leaders are very careful in taking any steps in Karnataka. It is learnt that the state legislators have been given a strong signal that they should stop getting involved with letter politics at a time when their total attention should be directed towards corona management.
