Bengaluru, Jul 15: Tenders for building the ropeway for the world-famous Nandi Hills, which has been pending for a long time, will be invited soon, tourism and environment minister, C P Yogeshwar said on Thursday.

The minister, who held a review of the progress of his department in Bengaluru, said he will be making a personal inspection on July 23.

Yogeshwar directed the department officials to take up the project for building the ropeway to Nandi Hills, which has been pending since several decades after it was first mooted, to do the necessary paperwork for inviting tenders to go ahead with the work.

AARCON Infra Company, which has wide experience of 51 years in executing ropeway projects worldwide and has installed 64 ropeways in different states in India and abroad, presented a demonstration of their capabilities.

Shravanabelagola Jain Tourist Circuit

The minister also asked the department officials to start work on establishing the Shravanabelagola Jain Tourist Circuit on the model of the Sun Temple in Konark in Odisha. The Shravanabelagola Jain Tourist Circuit should depict the history of Bahubali and also take up preparing a documentary, which could be exhibited in theatres to the tourists.

Another project on which the minister evinced interest is creating a hi-tech haathway at the Dasara Exhibition Grounds at Mysuru, which should depict the arts, culture, folklore and tourism aspects.

He asked the department officials to prepare a project blueprint, which could be taken up at the State Cabinet meeting for discussion and approval. This should facilitate the organisation of India Expo 2023 in Mysuru, he said.

Tourism department secretary, Pankaj Kumar Pandey, director Sindhu Roopesh, Forests and Jungle Lodges managing director, Pushkar, KSTDC managing director, Vijay Sharma and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
