Kasargod, Jul 17: For the last some days, the district has been receiving torrential rainfall that has thrown normal life out of gear. The rains have inflicted destruction and loss in several ways. Water is standing in open areas and a number of trees have got uprooted. Fallen trees have obstructed vehicular traffic.

Yamuna (58) wife of Balakrishna Panikkar died after falling into a pit that was brimming with water. This incident happened at Kadukandam, Nileshwar.

Artificial floods and inundated agricultural fields have become a common occurrence. Power supply has been disrupted due to fallen trees and strong wind. Adoor and Adkasthala rivulets are overflowing.
