Mangaluru: Pro society work of journalists is praiseworthy – Prabhaker Sharma

Mangaluru, July 17: A notebook distribution programme for children of Kutluru Government Higher Primary School, Beltangady taluk was held at Mangaluru Press Club on Saturday by Dakshina Kannada district working journalist’s association in association with Beltangady taluk Patrakartara Sangha.

Indian Red Cross district unit honorary secretary S A Pabhaker Sharma who distributed notebooks as chief guest said that the noble works of Patrakartara Sangha are praiseworthy. “Their stay at the village and contributions for the growth of the school also are commendable.” 

“The journalists here have shown that their work does not end with news reporting. The district Red Cross has also taken up several programmes such as collecting blood,” he said.

The school progress committee president Ramachandra Bhat said that the picture of the village has changed after the stay of journalists. “They have made sure that 120 requests out of 168 received from villagers during their stay are attended to. They have helped in providing computers, construction of the school boundary wall, distribution of school notebooks, etc.,” he said.

Patrakartara Sangha chief secretary Ibrahim Adkastala and state unit member Jagannath Shetty Bala were present. Patrakartara Sangha president Srinivas Nayak Indaje welcomed and gave an introductory address. Executive committee member Suresh D Palli thanked. Bhasker Rai Katta compered the programme.
