Mangalore, Oct 18: Hindu Janajagruti Vedike held a protest rally accompanied by the cluster of devotees from Sharavu Mahaganapati temple condemning the orders issued by the Supreme Court to evict the
centres of worship standing on the public property. The protestors thereby demanded regularization of the said illegal structures.

The massive procession wound up at the deputy commissioner's (DC) office with the protestors raising slogans against the unilateral justice of the Supreme Court followed by a stage programme.

Delivering his keynote address, Laxmisha Gamblaka, Hindu Janajagruti Vedike district secretary claimed that the law which is supposedly framing a boundary for its people thereby is attempting to attack temples and hurt the faith of the people belonging to major community.

He said several religious centres and bhajana mandirs standing in the region since centuries including Iroli Somanatheshwara temple, Bajilakeri Mukhyaprana temple and Maroli Sooryanarayana temple among
others in the coastal districts are targeted huring sentiments of thousands of innocent Hindus.

Gamblaka said that the temples are not meant to be attacked by any of the vested interests and added that those temples should be made legal even if they fail to produce the documents pertaining to their rights on land as they are age-old temples of Tulunadu. He also appreciated the efforts put in by the police department through which a terrorist was arrested from Badiyadka, recently.

He also condemned the nationalization of temples and alleged that the DC V Ponnuraj was trying to evict the temples forcefully. He hoped that the DC would undergo a change of mind for good.

I V Rao, religious head and Somanatheshwara Temple Committee working president exuded the hope that the spiritual powers will not allow anyone to go ahead on the issue as all the targeted temples has a
history of more than 400 years.

Mohan Gowda, active member of vedike claiming that 640 temples have a history of 1,000 years and said that those temples existed even before the law come into existence. He also stressed that the attack on
Hinduism is a well-planned plot. He insisted the DC to regularize the roads of Dakshina Kannada district before eying the temples. He also said that red-tapism observed in the DC's office is condemnable.

He expressed his displeasure over the government’s act of not taking action against the mosques being illegally constructed, thus disturbing any new railway route the railway department plans to take
up in the future in the region. He also showed his dissent over the income earned by the Hindu temples being allegedly used by the government for the benefit of madrasas. He warned of severe action in case the court
neglects the procession rally organized by the vedike.

Ramesh Nayak of the vedike, Shashikant of vedike, Muralidhar of Koragajja Seva Samiti and devotees from religious centres and bhajana mandalis among others were present.

Later a memorandum was submitted to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa through DC. As many as 5,000 people took part in the protest rally held amidst heavy rain.

Demolistion of places of worship of any belief is not a good practice in any secular society.

However, instead of throwing God on the street and causing inconvenience to all, it is better shifting God/place of worship to a decent place and build a beautiful environment for worship could be a better thought.

Those who are making noice against are not real worshipers but they are the agents of corrupt politicians !

Few years back we could walk peacefully on the roads. But now there are so many illegal religious structures built on roadsides that creates a nuisance for public. Atleast let the worship be on a legal land.

These places of worships, be it for any community, built on public property and roads, are not built out of service or love to God, but to make money by one section of the community and to fool the innocent followers. Now the people who are benefitting are under the threat of living the easy money thats flowing into their pocket without any audit or tax are organising these protests.

The organisation of so called protectors of places of worship are from just one section of the community and they dont want to lose their bread and butter and these road side structures have given them wealth for generations and its really painful for them to lose out such kamadhenu places of worship to a Supreme court order. Are the judges who passed this order dont belong to any religious groups or not afraid of God. Please dont play politics and misguide the public.

God is everywhere and He doesnt need a place to rest. It is ones aastha that makes him closer to God. Service to God must be seen in service to Gods creations, general welfare of all and not by the welfare of one particular section of one community.

Mr. Thomas must have the patience to read the article before commenting. He must note that these temples were built many hundred years before the Supreme Court came into existence.

    Mr. Thomas

Hindus could not built any temple anywhere as they wish. It is not a restuarant or a business centres. nor prayer hall. Where there is spiritual power then only they can built a temple. Mukhyaprana, surya narayana & Garodi temple there is a history of more than 400 years and sentiments of all Hindus.

It is clear that the SC order is not for one religion and it is applicable to all places of worship that have come up in public places. So protest by one community makes no much sense. We must be aware that people have religious sentiments and same sentiments have kept them away from progressive thinking. We all must support SC order that if any place of worship that causes or likely to cause public inconvenience must be removed without paying any compensation. Right now it is important for Hindus and Christians to stop the blind faith practiced for centuries and embrace the living god who doesn't live in temples and churches but within 'Self'.

Decade long Ayodya verdict has been passed and every single Indians were asked first to be Indians before the Supremacy of the Indian LAW. Now who these are protesting? Non Indians could be. Even Muslims were understood the year back sanctuary of the Temple of Ayodhya and so why not learn to be Indians FIRST? God dwells in the Hearts of MEN not in TEMPLES, MOSQUES or in CHURCHES. These buildings are meant to be men’s, made within themselves.

If God is Legal, then God won't reside in illegal places, or would want to reside on road sides, rather than in ones' heart. When the whole universe is created(his abode) by him where is the need to provide restricted places on this earth to get more moola for so-called param bhaktas.

Damm these Morons. Its not only temples its also Mosque and churches and anyother religious centers in illegal land should be demolished. If these measures are not taken tommorrow one will see a Vacant plot and start his own religion built and religious center and claim that its his land. Just follow what law says GOD knows its illegal its oaky to be removed and if u says spiritual powers will not let u do so its just a disbelief. If some power stops from doing good things we dont call it GOD.

During my recent visit to Mangalore I saw some public jokes on the national highway. A national highway has moved away as they had to let alone the bootha. The bootha is getting its dues in the form of extra fuel burnt (not to mention that extra pollution) to go that extra distance for each vehicle passing the bootha. I think God is within us, and God can be invited into anything and everything if you believe in God. However, here I believe God is used as an object that provides identity to one group of people or probably used to due to insecurity arising from mis-belief.

I am sure even God will understand the need for improved infrastructure as our population has exploded and we have done precious little to provide the much needed infrastructure to these very Bhaktas who are the remnants of that explosion. And what is worse, does God really need that little construction illegally built on public place? Will God condone such acts? It's not like God is being asked to move aside so that humans can go around freely.
