Kundapur, Oct 5: Forest department officials arrested two persons in connection with hunting and selling meat of Sambar deer.

The arrested are Mummy Shah Faizal and Kharuri Nizamuddin.

Reportedly, a sambar deer was hunted on the road near Kunjalli of Maddodi, Yedthare village. The Forest department, acting on a tip-off, arrested the accused while they were transporting the meat.

The accused were arrested under the guidance of Kundapur deputy forest conservator Ashish Reddy, Byndoor range forest officer T Kiran Babu along with staff.

Kunjalli residents Hiriyanna Shetty, MR Praveen Shetty and other accused are at large.

The Forest department officials have seized a two wheeler, mobile phones and meat from the accused. The arrested were booked under 1972 Wildlife Conservative Act and were produced to the court.

A team headed by Byndoor range forest officer T Koran Babu, division forest officer Bangarappa Achary, Sachin Nayak Raviraj B and other staff took part in the raid.
