Kundapur, Oct 6: “There are 48,000 government schools in the state. The construction of new classrooms will be approved in the budget after reviewing the conditions of existing classrooms. Most such schools are facing scarcity of students and teachers. Therefore, a model school for each of the gram panchayats will be planned,” said minister of primary and high school education in the state, B C Nagesh.
He was speaking after taking part in the discussion with the education minister, an interaction along with the department of public instruction, block education officer and block education coordinator.
“There is massive change in the education sector. The national education policy 2020 is finalized after sufficient research. There are plans to implement it from the year 2022-23. Seminars will be held everywhere to clear the confusion of teachers. The government will provide necessary books,” he said.
“If a child comes to school from the age of 3, it will not be difficult for the child in the first standard. All the students are being promoted now till the seventh standard. Teachers should obtain the help of old students for the progress of schools,” he said.
MLA B M Sukumar Shetty who presided over the programme said that Covid has badly affected the education of children. “The school education cannot be provided with the help of mobiles. The teachers should work harder in the next two years and set right the children,” he said.
The minister of education who came to the district for the first time was felicitated by teachers associations of Byndoor and Kundapur. A memorandum with various demands was submitted by them to the minister.
SSLC toppers were felicitated. Education department officials were present. Kundapur block education officer Padmanabha S K welcomed. Deputy director N H Nagura gave an introduction. Block coordinator Abdul Rauf rendered a vote of thanks. High school teachers association president Dr Kishore Kumar Shetty, primary school teachers association Byndoor unit chief secretary Ganapathi Hobalikar and B R P Sudhaker compered the programme.
The minister speaking to the news reporters said that the schools were opened in the past with the intention that schools should not be farther than two kilometres from residences. “The vacancies of teachers will be filled soon. Guest teachers will be employed wherever there is scarcity,” he said.
“We have clearly said that teachers should not take part in the activities of their association during school time. The respective block education officers should solve the problem if private schools do not issue TC to students leaving the school,” he said.
