Madikeri, Oct 7: The court at Virajpet in Kodagu district delivered a judgement as per which two persons who abducted and raped a girl before killing her, were awarded 20 years imprisonment apart from fine.
Accused in the case, Ranjit Ekka (21) and Sanjit alias Sandeep Orion (30), both of West Bengal origin, were found guilty and sentenced. They were residing in a coffee plantation at Siddapur Karadigodu village.
The case was heard in the second additional sessions court at Virajpet. The court had pronounced on September 28 that both accused were found guilty of the charges levelled against them. Judge of the court, S R Dindilkoppa, handed down 20 years imprisonment to each to both the accused and imposed fine of Rs 1.9 lac. Out of this amount, Rs 1.8 lac has been ordered to be disbursed to the family of the victim.
