Udupi: 'Bathing bay of Swarna river will be developed' - Minister

Udupi, Oct 7: Minister Sunil Kumar said that the bathing bay of Swarna river will be developed at a cost of one crore rupees within a year as per the request of the MLA here, K Raghupati Bhat. He was speaking after offering Bagina to the river and offering puja at Krishnangaraka bathing bay near Ganapati temple, Sheembra, Manipal, on Wednesday October 6.''

The minister said that our ancestors have handed down the culture of worshipping rivers, mountains etc. He said he had prayed when offering Bagina to the river, to see that the river should have abundant water flow all through the year which should be sufficient for the people and aquatic animals. The minister was accompanied by wife, Priyanka.

Udupi MLA K Raghupati Bhat, municipal president Sumitra Nayak, vice president, Lakshmi Kola, Coastal Development Authority chairman Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde, Udupi Urban Development Authority chairman Raghavendra Kini, deputy commissioner, M Kurma Rao, and others were present.

Social worker Vasudev Bhat Perampalli presented the programme. Priest Naveen Shivattaya and member of district religious council Herga Hariprasad Bhat, performed the Puja.
