Karkala, Oct 7: The number of children in Kannada medium schools is decreasing. Some schools in our neighbourhood are closed for want of students.

Sixty-five students are studying at Kedinje Vidyabodhini aided higher primary school at present. As per government orders only two teachers teach in the school. Three more honorary teachers are appointed to make good the scarcity of teachers. The school is hoping for donations to pay for their honorarium.

Nandalike Abbanadka Durgaparameshwari Friends club responded to the request of the school headmaster and collected Rs ten thousand from its members. President of the sangha, Prashanth Poojary handed over the cheque to Prathviraj Ballal, the headmaster of the school.

Prashanth Poojary assured the cooperation of the sangha for the school which has a history of 85 years and the growth of children in it.

Convener of the sangha, Abbanadka Sandeep V Poojary, ex president Bola Udaya Anchan, former president Dinesh Poojary Biretto, Sathish Poojary Abbandadka, vice president Suresh Abbanadka, treasurer Veena Poojary, Bhajana Mandali president Sulochana Kotian, members Padmashree Poojary and others were present.
