Brahmavar, Oct 9: State education minister B C Nagesh, said that the government does not propose to prune down the syllabus as it is not in the interests of the students. He said that the government wants to hold classes and examinations next year as per the academic time table. "We have requested the teachers, in this backdrop, to complete the syllabus as early as possible by holding classes on Saturdays, Sundays, and other holidays," he stated.

He was speaking to media persons during his visit to the Manuru-Padukere government composite high school on Friday October 8.  He mentioned that covid19 has dented academic activities and revealed that his department was opposed to granting Dasara holidays for PU and degree classes. As there is demand to allow students to participate in the festival, the government plans to extend holiday for these students too, he clarified.

The minister said that the National Education Policy has already been introduced in the degree courses and that the government plans to extend this to PUC, high school etc. "Task forces have been formed for this purpose. These bodies will undertake study of advantages and disadvantages and furnish them to the government after which it will be extended to cover lower classes," he explained.

He stated that there is no change in starting physical classes for all the classes, right from standard 1 after the Dasara holidays, duly adding that midday meals will also be provided.
