Bengaluru: Lovers turn thieves to fund jolly rides

Bengaluru, Oct 9: A rowdy sheeter and his lover who used to visit houses in the guise of searching for houses on rent, and stole valuables by drawing the owner's attention away, stand arrested. The arrested lovers said they wanted money to spend on jolly rides and therefore decided on this plan. Both have been arrested by the Chandra Layout police.

The arrested accused are Vinay (32) from Chandra Layout and Keertana (25) from Hoysala Nagar here.

Vinay faces several cases registered in Rajajinagar, Basaveshwar Nagar and other police stations. In his name, a rowdy sheet has been opened in Rajajinagar police station. He was jailed four years back relating to a crime. After coming out, he again indulged in crimes.

He fell in love with Keertana, who was at home after failing to clear PUC. The two often went on jolly rides. Both resorted to theft to fund their jolly ride expenses, it is said. Recently they had stolen a laptop form the house of Kulshekar from Martinagar, Chandra Layout. On the basis of CCTV camera footage, they were arrested, said senior police officials.
