Special Train Commemorating Tagore to Arrive in City on Nov 5

Mangalore, Nov 2:
Sanskriti Express, a special exhibition train commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore will arrive at Central railway station here on Friday November 5 and leave on Saturday November 6.

The train was launched by the Indian Railways from Rail Museum, Howrah in Kolkata on May 9 this year. It is a five-coach exhibition train portraying the life and philosophy of Tagore.

The ‘Sanskriti Yatra’ will run throughout the country over the next few months and return to Howrah on May 8, 2011.

The exhibition train has 5 coaches:

Coach1: Jibon Smriti- Tagore’s life, his reminiscences, Santhiniketan and Sriniketan
Coach 2: Gitanjali – songs, verses and poems
Coach 3: Muktodhara - short stories, novels dramas, essays, and Tagore, the performer
Coach 4: Chitrarekha – paintings, portraits and sketches.
Coach 5:  SeshKatha and Smaranika - his final journey and last days

There will also be Shantiniketan handicrafts to browse and buy.
  
The exhibition will be open between 10 am and 8 pm. Admission to the exhibition train is free.
 
Before the commencement of the exhibition there will be a small cultural programme on November 5 near the exhibition train.
