Cheese Causes E coli Outbreak in Five US States

New York, Nov 6 (IANS) An E.coli outbreak in five US states has been traced to cheese sold at a supermarket chain, a media report said.

At least 25 people fell sick after consuming the cheese, officials said.

The Bravo Farms Dutch Style Raw Milk Gouda Cheese was sold at Costco supermarket stores in Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico and Nevada between Oct 5 and Nov 8, Xinhua reported citing CNN.

Consumers who bought the cheese have been asked to dispose it in a sealed plastic bag and then dump it in a closed trash can. Costco is also offering a refund to people who return the cheese.

E.coli may cause bloody diarrhoea, stomach cramps and dehydration. In extreme cases, patients can suffer kidney failure.
