Steep increase in commercial LPG price: Hike in rates of snacks, lunch from New Year expected

Daijiworld Media Network – Bengaluru (MS)

Bengaluru, Nov 3: P C Rao, president of Bengaluru Hotel Organization said that the association is mulling of increasing the rates of snacks and lunch from January 2022 in the wake of sudden increase in the fare of commercial cooking gas cylinders.

Speaking on the subject, Rao said, “The rate of 19 kg weight of commercial cylinder has gone up to Rs 2,060 from Rs 1,794. This will push the hotel industry, which is just reviving after the jolt of coronavirus lock down, to the brink. So we have appealed to the state government to control the price of fuel.

“We will once again request the state BJP government to reduce the commercial gas cylinder price. If the price is not brought down till January, then we will discuss with the members of the association and increase the price of lunch and snacks.

“As the price of diesel and petrol have also gone up, the rate of groceries and vegetables has also sky rocketed. This also will cause the customers from not visiting the hotel and our industry will suffer further,” he said.

In addition to cooking gas, the price of essential fuels like diesel and petrol is increasing everyday. From September 28 the petrol price is hiked 26 times and diesel price is hiked 29 times.
