Dear Fedirck, I apprecate your concern. If they make the baffelo to run without beating wonderful. But nose peircing is required to hold the buffelos as they are wel fed and are full streangth and energy, it is difficult to hold on to them without the rope through the peirced hole. Even to the buffellos not going to the Kambla it is good old practice to pierce the nose. It is an one time job like humans peircing their ears, nose to wear jewels. If we have to object that, how can we justify all that humans do to the animals to make them obedient (like horses shoeing, training elephants etc) ? So piercing is not a real punishment to animal. Beating yes is a punishment. But even above that for me nothing is as painful as killing a living animal for food.

Dear Girish, Karkala, Please read my comments carefully. I said, I certainly enjoy Kambala. I have not said to discontinue it. But can we not have the same sport without beating? Should we pierce the noses of cows and buffaloes? Thanks for your information on taking care and feeding the buffaloes through out the year.

Girish, Karkala - Saudi, Come on! chennag heldri, buffalo n cow are not the same u see. Beating n killing is not the same. I do like Kambala, but when they beat the Buffalos mercilessly my heart too pains a lot. The price money should be big, must be sponsored by industries. Nice to see mad Mark n Michaels team over there, hope to see this game on Discovery channel soon..

While this is certainly an enjoyable game, I strongly suggest that we get rid of the beating of the animals with the sticks and avoid piercing the inside part of the nose of these helpless animals. It must be such a painful thing for these animals. I do not understand why piercing of the inside part of the animals is not banned. Organisations like Cruelty against animals need to take up this issue.
