Adani Foundation donates Rs 78.18 lac Udupi District Administration

Udupi, Jan 7: Adani Foundation: In the pre-text of emergence of new Covid variant 'Omicron', Adani Foundation grants Rs 78.18 Lakhs from CSR to Udupi District Administration to establish Paediatric ICU ventilator beds and allied medical equipment at Government Hospital, Karkala.

In view of emergence of new Covid variant 'Omicron', Adani owned Udupi Power Corporation Limited, which is operating thermal power plant in Udupi District, in hands with Adani Foundation, a CSR wing of Adani Group, has granted Rs 78.18 lakhs to Udupi District Administration for establishing 10 Paediatric ICU ventilator beds and allied medical equipment in Government Hospital, Karkala, to equip Udupi district to treat affected children during 3rd wave of Covid Pandemic. In the month of August 2021 Adani Foundation had provided grant in aid of Rs 40 lakhs to Udupi District Administration for establishing paediatric ICU ventilator beds and with today’s grant it has extended total grant of Rs 1.18 crores.

Kishore Alva, president and executive director of Adani Group, Karnataka State, handed over the Demand Draft of Rs 78,18,500/- (Rupees Seventy-Eight Lakhs Eighteen Thousand Five Hundred Only) to Kurma Rao. M, deputy commissioner and district magistrate of Udupi District at DC’s Office. Sadashiva Prabhu, additional deputy commissioner of Udupi was present on the occasion.

Kishore Alva informed that under the chairmanship of deputy commissioner of Udupi, a meeting was called in the month of December, 2021 inviting all the industries, associations and banks of district in presence of District Health authorities and Commerce and Industries Department to discuss on the possibilities of getting support from industries, associations and banks under CSR to make District / Government Hospitals in Udupi District cope-up with the emerging new covid variant 'Omicron'.

Subsequently Adani Foundation has come forward and agreed to support Udupi District Administration and Health Department to establish exclusive 10 Paediatric ICU ventilator beds and allied medical equipment at Government Hospital in Karkala as per the estimated cost of Rs 78,18,500/- submitted by District Health authorities for the medical devices comprising Multipara Monitors; Central Monitoring System; Syringe Infusion Pump; Drip Infusion Pump; Modular wall mount monitor stand with drip stand and thrash can; Portable USG machine; Defibrillator; Cardiac Table; Laryngoscope handle and blades (curved & straight); Crash cart; Desktop computer system with printer & UPS; Resuscitation Couch/ICU Bed; Electrical/Foot operated suction machine; ECG machine; Radiant warmer; Emergency trolley; High Flow Nasal Cannula; Bubble CPAC; BiPAP machine with appropriate paediatric NIV mask; Otoscope; Ophthalmoscope; Defibrillator; Invasive ventilators; Humidifier for ventilators; Ventilator circuits paediatric, Alva informed.

Considering the need of ICU Ventilator beds and allied medical devices at Government Hospital in Karkala to strengthen the District Administration and Health authorities to cope with third wave of Covid pandemic and Omicron, affecting children, Adani Foundation has extended support to District Administration by way of donating the estimated cost of Rs 78.18 lakhs for establishing 10 Paediatric Ventilator beds at Government Hospital, Karkala, under its CSR, Kishore Alva said. He also informed that previously Adani Foundation has contributed Rs 40 lakhs to Udupi District Administration for Paediatric ICU ventilator beds, which has been utilized by District Administration at Udupi District Hospital, Government Hospital, Karkala and Government Hospital, Kundapura.
