Bantwal, Jan 12: After remnants of an old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva were found in Kaup Gudda area in Ajjibettu village near Vamadapadavu in the taluk some years back, local devotees used to get together there to sing Bhajans. Nearby, on January 10, an ancient Shivalinga was found. This made the devotees very happy.

An Ashtamangala divine query was organized here recently. On this occasion, the pious people of the village were informed that an old temple was in ruins at the spot. Excavation in the land belonging to Ramanna Moolya Pacherupalke revealed the existence of a Shivalinga hidden beneath the earth. People who witnessed this, offered tender coconut water to the Shivalinga.

This temple is among the four temples dedicated to Lord Shiva located within Venoor Ajilaseeme Magane. Prakashchandra Alva Vambettu, president of reconstruction committee, said that this is the worship centre for devotees located in Ajjibettu, Chennaithody, Pilimogaru, Kudambettu, Moodupadukody, Pilatabettu and Irvathur villages.

Special puja was thereafter offered to the Shivalinga under the guidance of Tantry, Sripad Pangannaya. Former minister B Ramanath Rai, was among the dignitaries who visited the spot.
