Kasargod: Lockdown announced in district on Jan 23, 30

Kasargod, Jan 20: The district administration has decided to impose a complete lockdown in the district during the next two Sundays in view of the spike in cases. The lockdown will be in effect on January 23 and 30.

It has also been decided to close schools from 1st standard to 10th standard till further orders. These classes will be held online from tomorrow. Only essential services are exempted from lockdown norms.

The number of Covid cases crossed 1,000 in the district on Thursday, January 20 and the positivity rate has reached 36.6 percent. Tests were conducted on 3,098 people. Of them 1,135 tested positive. So far 351 persons have recovered and 3,982 are under treatment.

As many as 9,280 cases are under observation. The pandemic has infected 1,49,125 persons so far of whom 1,43, 836 have been cured. In all, seven Omicron cases have been registered.

The death toll has reached 967. As on Thursday, 46,387 positive cases were registered in Kerala.
