Daijiworld Media Network - Hosapete (SP)

Hosapete, Jan 24: Twenty-two persons who had converted into Christianity returned to Hinduism in the presence of Sri Poornananda Bharathi Swamiji of Matanga Asham at Hampi. These 22 are members of five families who had been converted into Christianity eight years back. They had become members of Christianity when they were in Hosadurga in Chitradurga district. They had later migrated to Hosapete in search of greener pastures.

The families belong to the Budga Jangama tribe. As per the traditions of their tribe, they offered puja to their deity near the Shami tree near Jambalamma and Maremma shrine to signify their return to Hinduism. President of the Budga Jangama Samaja, Sannamareppa, speaking on the occasion, said that the people of his tribe are being enticed into religious conversion by offering various lures. He called upon members of the community who have deserted Hinduism to return and promised protection and facilities to them. He said that the people who desert Hinduism lose their chances of getting employment and educational facilities.

Many leaders were present.
