Mangaluru: Entrepreneur Sadashiva Shetty elected president of Yakshadhruva Foundation trust

Mangaluru, Jan 27: Sadashiva Shetty Kanyana, managing director of Heramba Chemical Industries, Mumbai has been elected honorary president of Yakshadhruva Foundation Trust. The election was held during the meeting of the trust held at Hotel Attane, Naguri, Kankanady here on Friday, January 21.

The trust was started for the welfare of Yakshagana artistes in 2015. It has been indulging in several services to Yakshagana artistes during the last four years. Though there were no Yakshagana programmes during the last two years, the artistes are provided Rs 75 lacs worth grocery kits, emergency medical aid and monetary help though the office bearers. It was decided in the meeting to hold Yakshadhruva Patla Sanbhrama event at Adyar garden on May 29. A sports tournament also is planned by the trust this year.

Late Vamana Devadiga, artist of Hiriadka Mela who passed away in a bike accident recently was paid homage in the meeting. An accident insurance cheque of Rs eight lacs will be handed over to his family, said Sathish Shetty.

Saundarya Ramesh, Jayarama Shekha, Savanoor Seetarama Rai, Mumbai unit secretary Karnoor Mohan Rai, magician Kudroli Ganesh, Yakshagana sector’s professor Dr M Prabhaker Joshi, Jabbar Sumo Sampaje, central committee’s Jagannath Shetty Bala and Arati Avla were present. Professor Bhasker Kukkuvalli, Girish M Shetty Kateel, Pradeep Alva Kadri and Devadas Shetty, Sumangala Bhat gave their opinions. Punjalkatte unit office bearers handed over Rs 50 thousand donation for Patla Sambhrama. Ladies wing office bearers said that they will also donate Rs 50 thousand. Central committee chief secretary Purushotham Bhanday Adyar compered the programme.

Pradeep Alva said that Pavanje mela, an association of third gender have planned a Yakshagana play at Kodikal here on February 25.
