Mangaluru: NITK-Surathkal holds 16th edition of annual technical fest

Mangaluru, Mar 4: The 16th edition of the annual technical fest of NITK Surathkal - Engineer '22 will get in progress at its Srinivasnagar campus from March 3. Engineer is one of the greatest tech fests in entire South India and one of the biggest in Karnataka. The fest brings together students from different colleges all over India attracting an estimated annual footfall of about 6,000 people.

Along with this the 41st edition of the annual cultural festival of NITK Surathkal, Incident 2022 witnesses inception on the date of March 3rd 2022. Incident is one of the largest student-run college fests in India and it promises to be bigger and better. It brings together people of various abilities and skills from all over India to culminate in the Land of Euphoria, that is Incident.

The inauguration of the event took place on the 3rd of March at 5 pm with Dr Ashwathnarayan C N, Higher Education minister, Govt of Karnataka, as the chief guest and Nalin Kumar Kateel, Member of Parliament, Govt of India, and Dr Bharath Shetty Y, Member of Legislative Assembly, Govt of Karnataka, as guest of honor. Dr Bharath Shetty Y felicitated padmashree recipients Amai Mahalinga Nayak, Miracle man of Mangaluru, who converted his barren land into flourishing farm, Harekala Hajabba, popularly known as Akshara Santa, who contributed towards the rural education of underprivileged students and Dr Sowjanya J. Anchan, chief medical officer, Surathkal, who worked during the harsh pandemic times in conducting RTPCR testing and looking after the covid patients. The event was presided by professor Udaykumar R Yaragatti, director(in-charge), NITK Surathkal and pofessor Narendranath S, dean Students Welfare, NITK.

The theme of the event this year is 'A Realm of Reveries'. The dignitaries were given an exposure of Metaverse, by putting VR headsets, created by 'KARENGE', start-up of NITK. The fest is composed of various technical flagship events conducted by the student societies of NITK such as Reflux, Metaverse, TechMela and so on. Also for the first time ever BAJA NITK Racing is giving chance to drive ATV, Destiny 2.0 car engineered by students of NITK.

There are also many other events such as Technites, Tronix, E-Bike Expo, laser shows, starry nights and other exquisite electro-mechanical exhibits placed across campus by the student themselves. Apart from these technical events, Karan Singh Magic, magician and mentalist will be performing at the inauguration eve.
